Jiuzhaigou Global Recruitment for Nature Education Volunteers

1.Background

Jiuzhaigou, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, a World Biosphere Reserve, and a national-level nature reserve, is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes, rich biodiversity, and deep-rooted Tibetan culture. Often referred to as a “Fairyland,” Jiuzhaigou also serves as a natural museum for environmental education.

To enhance public awareness of Jiuzhaigou’s scientific value, expand its international nature education outreach, and cultivate future leaders in nature education, the Jiuzhaigou Heritage Administration and the UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Tourism in UNESCO Designated Sites have jointly launched the International Nature Education Volunteer Program. This program seeks passionate young volunteers from around the world to contribute to the development of Jiuzhaigou’s nature education initiatives and its global branding.

Guiding Institution: UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Tourism in UNESCO Designated Sites

3.Eligibility Requirements

3.1 Open to university students (undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral) from around the world.

3.2 Preference given to applicants with experience in nature education programs.

3.3 Strong English proficiency is an advantage.

3.4 Passion for nature, strong teamwork skills, innovative thinking, and cross-cultural communication abilities.

3.5 Physically and mentally healthy, with no major medical conditions.

3.6 Willingness to respect local cultural traditions and comply with Jiuzhaigou Heritage Administration regulations.

4.Responsibilities

4.1 Assist in the development and management of Jiuzhaigou’s nature education base.

4.2 Design nature education programs or activities tailored for different audiences (children, youth, and international visitors).

4.3 Conduct nature education sessions and organize or support hands-on teaching activities.

4.4 Participate in international collaboration and exchange programs related to nature education.

4.5 Promote Jiuzhaigou’s nature education initiatives and enhance its global brand presence.

5.Location & Duration

Location: Jiuzhaigou World Heritage Site (on-site residency required).

Duration: May – October 2025 (any 3–4 weeks within this period).
